Juanita Jean Matheny, 92, of Robinson, IL, formerly of Oblong, Illinois, passed away Friday March 14,2014 at 7:42 a.m. at the Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong.
Born in Hardinville, Illinois on July 28, 1921, she was the daughter of Brody Ira Bollinger and Ella Theo (Keenan) Bollinger. On June 4, 1939 she married Arthur Nolan and he preceded her in death in 2004; she married Ira S. Matheny on July 22, 1978 and he preceded her in death on July 25 1995.
Juanita was a member of the RHS class of 1939; a member of the First Christian Church in Oblong and Highland Church of Christ in Robinson; worked as church secretary at LeClaire Christian Church in Edwardsville, IL.; switchboard operator at Crawford Memorial Hospital; volunteered as one of the “Pink Ladies” at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL; and was employed at Terry’s Flower Shop and the Index Store, both in Oblong, IL.; and did sewing in her home. Juanita enjoyed drawing, painting, singing and reading her Bible.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Keith and Mary Jane Nolan II, and a daughter Rebecca “Becky” Stahl, all of Oblong, Illinois; three step-sons and daughters-in-law: DeWayne Matheny, Ft. Worth, TX; Truman and Sharon Matheny, Hillsboro, OR.; and Stanley and Beverly Matheny, Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren: Ed and Debbie Mikeworth III; Kelly and Gary McBride; Shelly and John Moore; Cynthia J. Haynes; Gina Booker; Tanna and John Tardif; Lee Ann and Bob Smith; Angela and Donnie Nichols; 16 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; both husbands; an infant son, Michael Edwin Nolan; a daughter, Rita Mikeworth; a great-grandson, Arthur Keith Nolan III; two brothers, Gerald “Jerry” and Lyle Bollinger.
