Verlie Lingafelter Shaffner Buckner 93 Martinsville, Illinois died Sunday June 9, 2002 at Heartland Manor Nursing Home in Casey, Illinois. Verlie was born March 1, 1909 in Orange Twp., Clark County, Illinois and was the daughter of Charlie and Nellie (Hart) Lingafelter. On November 3, 1935 Verlie married E. LaVaughn Shaffner , he passed away on January 4, 1967. On February 22, 1969 she married Ansel Buckner, he passed away on June 3, 2000. Verlie was a homemaker and was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church and later a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.


Verlie is survived by 1 Son and Daughter-In-Law: Arden and Diana Shaffner, 1 Daughter and Son-In-Law: Joan & Oscar Nichols , 2 Step-Daughters and Husbands: Karen & Dwight Peel and Marilyn & Jerry Ulrey, 1 Brother: Lyle Dean Lingafelter, 1 Sister: Katie Don, 4 Grandchildren: Michael Flynn, Carla Flynn, Terry Shaffner, Eric Shaffner, 4 Step-Grandchildren: Janeen Rue, Debbie Musielak, Scott Ulrey and Steve Ulrey, 1 Great-Granddaughter: Makayla Shaffner, 8 Step Great-Grandchildren and 2 Step Great-Great-Grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews. Verlie is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 2 Brothers: Leo & Delno Lingafelter, 1 Sister: Verna Johnson and 1 Step-Grandson: Jeffrey Ulrey.


Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 13, 2002 at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, Illinois with Rev. Ronald Gross and Rev. Bill Rolman officiating. Visitation will be from 6 8 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2002 and until time of Service on Thursday. Burial will be at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
